‘Made by Matthew’ is the creative outlet of Matthew Hutcheson, a furniture maker who crafts bespoke sculptural pieces by hand from native hardwoods. Matthew is originally from Scotland and now based in Belfast.
“My practice is focused on creating sculptural furniture using native woods which are ergonomic, practical and beautiful. I aim to let the natural figure and character of the wood play a part in the design of the final piece. Each piece is unique and the wood used is chosen from local sawmills specifically so the shape and grain will reflect and enhance the design".
